The Nursing program educates pre-licensure students to become Registered Nurses. The Nursing program is accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN). Reporting directly to the Associate Dean of Nursing, you will collaborate with faculty and staff, advise students, develop Foundations and Medical Surgical curriculum, and assess program outcomes. This position is expected to participate in service work for the college that may include department & division meetings, and campus-related professional development activities. This is an on-campus position with occasional hybrid assignments.

This position will focus on pre-licensure requirements. Teaching duties include providing instruction for theory, clinical, skills labs and virtual simulations.

Faculty at Shoreline will have an array of students from differing programs in their classroom, including professional technical and university transfers. Shoreline seeks a candidate that can identify and mitigate the barriers to success that many students face and be passionate about creating an equitable learning environment that supports success for all students. Qualifications

Required Education and Experience

  • Master's degree in nursing or related discipline from an accredited institution
  • Professional active, unencumbered license as a registered nurse in Washington State OR ability to obtain license prior to beginning teaching responsibilities
  • Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers OR ability to obtain within 1 month of hire
  • Expertise or clinical practice in any generalized area of nursing
  • Experience teaching in online, in-person, and hybrid modalities in higher education

Knowledge of & Skill In
  • Microsoft Office programs, learning management systems and other appropriate instructional technology
  • Current evidence-based practice knowledge for general and medical surgical nursing
  • Effective simulation and clinical teaching methods
  • Fostering a climate of equity and belonging through multicultural humility, competence, and responsiveness
  • Imparting excitement and enthusiasm into the instruction of nursing
  • Effective oral/written communication with individuals at all levels inside and outside the College
  • Adapting to a variety of teaching situations with students with diverse backgrounds and abilities
  • Developing/modifying curriculum both collaboratively and independently
  • Working and interacting effectively with colleagues, staff, students, administrators, and others of various cultural and socio-economic backgrounds


Conditions of Employment

Physical Work Environment:
The College is currently in mixed (both in-person and online) operations, with the option for some assignments to completed in an online environment based on program or area needs. If authorized by the College for remote (online) instruction, faculty will need to provide their own workspace and internet access, noting the College will provide technical equipment and support for online work needs. For on-campus in-person instruction, work is usually performed in a classroom/lab/clinic/office space that requires standing and/or sitting for extended periods of time. Faculty typically use computers, media equipment, and medical equipment in the work environment.

Term of Employment/Salary:
This is a full-time, tenure track position, with a 172-day annual contract beginning September 19, 2024. Salary placement is determined by the number of qualifying years of teaching/work experience combined with educational preparation. Hiring of this position is contingent upon available funding as determined by the College President.
